I Have
a Sleep Disorder, NOW WHAT?
- Tell your primary care
physician that you suspect that you have a sleep disorder.
- Your doctor will send
your information to the sleep lab.
- The sleep lab will contact
you. You will be scheduled for an appointment and will be asked to answer
a series of questions over the phone to help determine what kind of
sleep disorder you may have.
- Lion Sleep Labs will
send you directions and a brochure with instructions.
- You will arrive at the
sleep lab 2 hours prior to your normal bedtime.
- A technician will greet
you and help you get settled in.
- The technician will attach
sensors to various parts of your skin with a special paste and tape
to ensure that the sensors will stay on no matter how much you move
around.
- You will have time to
read or watch TV before bedtime.
- Once in bed you can get
a drink of water or get up and use the restroom as much as needed.
- You will be able to leave
after you wake up in the morning, unless you are scheduled for daytime
testing.
- Schedule an appointment
with your primary care doctor about 2-3 weeks after your sleep test
to go over your results.
- Once you are found to
have a sleeping disorder and you and your doctor decide what treatment
is appropriate, it is up to your doctor to order this treatment from
the correct source. Just double check on insurance coverage, it varies.
